Solid last month
Phillip has had a solid past few weeks and has been consistently moving up the leaderboard on the IRA point standings. He is currently sitting in 4th place and is just 52 points out of 3rd and holds a 100 point lead on Russel Borland who is chasing him in 5th place. Phillip has been able to turn in consistent performances keeping him in the top 10, with several nights in the top 5. This included his best finish in a feature June 9th at Wilmot, where he finished 3rd, and only because of several yellows that allowed those chasing him to reel him back in. The only night in the last month where he was not able to break the top 10 in the feature was May 26th, where Phillip got tangled up in a minor crash leaving him in 19th and without finishing. Phillip continues to learn and improve as a racer and has not finished outside of the top 7 the last 3 races. Look for the IRA sprints and hard-charging Phillip Mock coming to Oshkosh at the Oshkosh SpeedZone June 22nd and Sheboygan County Fair Park in Plymouth on June 30th!!
Week 4:
Week 4 brought the IRA to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI. Phillip was able to qualify 11th in quick time with a qualifying time of 14.407s, going some 83.210 mph. He again transferred out of his heat by finishing 4th again, just like last week. Phillip ran another solid feature, getting himself into the top 10 with a 9th place finish this week. With three weeks of racing in the books, Phillip is currently tied for 7th in the seasons point standing for the IRA, just 2 points out of 6th and 7 points back from 5th place. Next weekend brings 2 shows for the holiday weekend. First on Saturday, the IRA will be traveling to Wilmot Raceway and then on Sunday moving on to the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI. Come on out and show your support!!
Week 3:
After a rainy week the week prior, week 3 got underway without problems at the WIlmot Raceway. Phillip was running fast in qualifying, posting a fast lap of 13.520s with a speed of 88.669 mph, which gave him the second spot for quick time. The good racing continued in heat 2, Phillip's heat, where he finished 4th and transferred straight to the A-main feature. Phillip again ran very well in the feature and was able to finish 5th.
First Week Results:
Opening weekend for the 2012 IRASprint Series Schedule kicked off the 21st of April. Phillip qualified well with a lap time of 12.843s with a speed of 93.343 mph good enough for 10th in qualifying. However, he did not transfer out of his heat race into the feature. He had a solid B-main finishing 3rd and transferring to the feature. There was a four car pile up during the feature and when he tried to avoid the crash, he ended up bending the front axle. He finished the race in 18th even with the equipment not at 100%. It was not bad for the first night of the 2012 race season.
